The Power of Projection - EP027
Manage episode 235305686 series 2413389
Memory is a fickle thing. You may be confident that your memory of an event is absolutely correct, yet someone else may remember the details very differently—and be just as confident that they’re right. Most of us understand that remembering is subjective, but you may be surprised to learn that your biased memory influences the reality you create! When you project your memory of a person or situation (and added judgement) on current circumstances, people respond by living up to your expectations. How does this work? Can you use this creative power to script a different outcome?
Today on Women’s Empowerment School, Sylvia is sharing the seventh chapter of her book, 12 Leadership Powers for Successful Women, ‘The Power of Projection.’ She explains why there is no such thing as an objectively stored memory, discussing the fluid nature of memory and how it changes over time.
Sylvia introduces the idea of remembering as a creative act, offering insight around how your judgement of a client or colleague based on previous experience impacts your behavior toward them—and proves your projection right when they mirror your body language! Listen in to understand the power you possess to co-create your world and learn how to script encounters so that people live up to your ideal vision.
