Call center operators (or 9-1-1 operators) carry out one of the most stressful jobs in the world of first responders. They truly are the unsung heroes of law enforcement and EMS. So, on this week's episode I pay homage to 9-1-1 dispatchers. I talk about the history of the 9-1-1 system and what it takes to be a call center operator. I identify when to call and when not to call 9-1-1 and provide a brief insight in to what type of training a 9-1-1 operator receives. Please join me in thanking call center operators for their dedication to the safety and well being of not only the police and EMS, but to their communities. If it weren't for the behind the scenes operations, first responders would never get to us in our time of need.
