The Seneca Scene is off for the next two week to prepare episodes for the fall. This week we are revisiting Zahra’s story which we first shared back in February. For this episode we welcomed Zahra Arabzada ’19 to tell her story of her life as a runner, starting in her home country of Afghanistan, and how her advocacy has impacted women in the United States as well as her home. Recounting her reasons for running in hijab in the U.S. and her work to advocate for female sports in Afghanistan. Zahra shares her incredible tale, proving that anyone can be a runner, no matter race, gender, or religious identity. Along the way, Zahra explains how growing up in Afghanistan shaped her desire to become a doctor and how running became a symbol of opportunity rather than just a part of survival. Make sure to follow Zahra’s story on her blog: https://www.thehijabirunner.com/ This episode originally aired in February 2019.

Listen to the full episode below and be sure to subscribe to The Seneca Scene on iTunes and on Spotify to stay updated on all events and happenings on HWS campus! New episodes airing soon…
