Her book The Other Side of the gun/ My Journey from Trauma to Resiliency chronicles the trauma of losing her father, Los Angeles Police Detective Thomas C Williams, who was ambushed and killed October 31, 1985 when she was 17. Her book was born from the need to help others heal from Trauma and loss to find resiliency.
