The Achilles tendon is a thick, powerful cord of tissue (thickest and strongest tendon in the human body, FYI) that connects the calf muscles, gastrocnemius, and soleus to the heel bone. There are two common types of Achilles tendon tears: Partial and Complete Tears.

Additionally, we will consider symptoms common with this injury, such as the feeling of being kicked in the calf, popping or snapping sound upon injury, and more. We’ll also uncover how an Achilles tendon rupture occurs with the most common Mechanisms of Injury.
