Tonight, I will begin reading Beowulf. I hope you will join me for the next several episodes on this epic and ancient journey.
Beowulf was written sometime between the 7th and 11th century by an unknown poet, known today by scholars simply as “The Beowulf poet”. The epic has survived on a single manuscript, transcribed in the late 10th or early 11th century. It follows our great hero, Beowulf, as he embarks on an epic adventure to slay the monster, Grendel.
