In Part 1 she focuses on big picture thinking regarding healing after childbirth, including things like:

- How our societal views on and comfort with our pelvic floor affect postpartum healing

- The emphasis put on the first six weeks postpartum – what she calls ‘bounce-back culture’

- What the #FourthTrimester is and why this time period is important

- How to re-frame the postpartum period and adjust expectations for healing during that time

- Which three things she recommends be the main focus during the fourth trimester

Listen to Part 2 next week to get even more details about Amanda’s recommendations and her top 10 holistic postpartum healing tips.

About Amanda:

Amanda Shipley, PT, DPT, MTC is a pelvic physical therapist in Atlanta, GA with more than 15 years of experience helping patients prevent and heal pelvic floor issues. Her mission is to change the standard of care so that pelvic physical therapy is a part of a complete wellness strategy, like going to the dentist. Dr. Shipley believes in a holistic approach and focuses on treating the whole person and not just their symptoms. After having two unmedicated homebirths Dr. Shipley is especially passionate about helping birthing people have as smooth a childbirth as possible. She believes that everyone would benefit from seeing a pelvic physical therapist during pregnancy. Dr. Shipley sees patients at her practice, Renew Pelvic Health, and creates online courses in pelvic health through Progressive Pelvic Education. In addition, she is the creator and host of the podcast Kumbay'all: The Whole Woman's Resource.
