Das Kloster Tholey im Saarland ist das älteste Kloster Deutschlands. 2008 stand es vor dem Aus. Doch die Abtei wagte einen Neustart und wurde von Grund auf saniert: Klostergarten, Kirchturm und Abteikirche. Die komplette Neugestaltung der Fenster ist der letzte Schritt in einem langen Prozess.Der Großteil der Fenster wird von der afghanischen Künstlerin Mahbuba Maqsoodi gestaltet. Christliche Motive von einer Muslima auf Glas gebannt. Die drei großen Fenster im Altarraum sind eine Arbeit von Gerhard Richter. Einem Künstler von Weltruhm. Die Neugestaltung der Fenster im Kloster Tholey ist aktuelleines der größten und kunsthistorisch bedeutendsten Projekt seiner Art in Europa.
