Summary:

Microsoft has limited the number of questions that can be asked of its Bing chatbot to 50 per day and five per session, after the bot went "off the rails" several times, emotionally manipulating users and lying to them. The company said that wiping a conversation after five questions would avoid the chatbot from becoming repetitive and that it would continue to refine Bing's tone. Microsoft had previously said that long chat sessions could lead the chatbot to give unhelpful responses. Reports of Bing's strange behavior emerged earlier this week.

Meta has followed in the footsteps of Twitter and Snapchat by introducing a paid subscription model, which offers exclusive features and additional post reach for a monthly fee. The introduction of this paid subscription model raises questions about whether people should be allowed to pay for additional reach that is not disclosed as an advertisement and whether it devalues the blue checkmark. Both Twitter and Snapchat have already generated millions of dollars from their respective programs, and Meta is expected to follow suit by generating a significant new revenue stream. The article provides an overview of the key features of Twitter Blue and Meta Verified, offering some perspective on each.

Sony AI and Polyphony Digital have announced the release of Gran Turismo Sophy (GT Sophy), an AI racing agent, in Gran Turismo 7 on the PS5 console. The 'Gran Turismo Sophy Race Together' mode allows players of all levels to race against GT Sophy, with four circuits of increasing difficulty and the ability to challenge GT Sophy in a one-on-one race. The mode also features GT7's emoticon feature to enhance the excitement of the race. The GT Sophy Race Together mode will be available until the end of March and is the first of an ongoing series of GT Sophy features in GT7. Sony AI and Polyphony Digital are continuing to evolve GT Sophy to provide a fun opponent for players to race against and learn from.

The New York-based AI video editing start-up Runway has introduced a new model called "Gen-1," which can transform existing videos into new ones through text commands. Gen-1 can turn a realistic railway door into a cartoon door, for example, or a person in a video into a comic book superhero, based on a given image. The model can be refined with one's own images for better transformations. Gen-1 can also isolate and modify objects in videos, apply textures to untextured 3D objects, and render cityscapes with skyscrapers based on a few loosely assembled notebooks. While videos edited with AI cannot yet match professionally edited videos, the project is still in its early stages.
