Episode 101: Book Club - Sex and the Heartland pt1 (feat. Lauren Pauls)
Manage episode 358428122 series 2931572
In a continued effort to emmesh Lauren further in the Guy-family media empire (we're basically the Kardashians at this point), Joel brought her back to discuss a book about the Sexual Revolution in America and how it manifested in her hometown of Lawrence, Kansas. This book, another from the author of From Front Porch to Back Seat, explores how the Sexual Revolution was shaped by a variety of economic, political, and social forces during the 20th Century and was not limited by the activities of specific individuals or geographical locations. Part one of this episode discusses how WW2 impacted the population of Lawrence and how their tolerance of illicit activities were influenced both by the desire for economic growth and the national trends of the day.

This year our monthly Patreon donations will be going towards trans organizations and activism. This month we made a donation to the bail fund of trans activist who was arrested for protesting a horrendous trans bill in Oklahoma. Check out the link here.
