Here we are with an accidental hostage-themed episode of What’s New to Netflix Instant!? this month, where we look at three intense action thrillers in addition to running down all of the new stuff hitting Netflix in May 2023.

We got even more Denzel Washington, who has been featured a ton on our podcast lately, as Clive Owen holds up a bank and no one knows who is who in the Spike Lee directed, Inside Man from 2006. Next, Samuel L. Jackson is a hostage negotiator who becomes the target of a conspiracy that can only go from bad to worse if Kevin Spacey is the guy who has to save you, in The Negotiator from 1998. And finally, Alban Lenoir might be the best new rising action star in our opinion, when we take a look at the gritty and intense, AKA from 2023.

All of this plus reality dating shows are back in a big way, Netflix’s recent bout of controversies, St. Vincent the movie not the musician, E! True Hollywood stories, plastic animation, MerPeople, and the looming mystery of what Heartland is and how it has fifteen seasons.
