I had the pleasure and honor to be in community wit Dr. Lisa N. Folden, a North Carolina licensed physical therapist, NASM certified behavior change specialist and Anti-diet Health & Body Image Coach. She owns Healthy Phit Physical Therapy & Wellness Consultants in Charlotte, NC where she provides trauma-informed and weight-inclusive care to clients in diverse bodies and those in eating disorder recovery. As a health at every size (HAES®️) ambassador and movement expert, Dr. Folden assists clients seeking healthier lifestyles. Her weight-neutral approach encourages intuitive eating, joyful movement, body acceptance and breaking up with toxic diet culture.

Through her work as a weight-inclusive physical therapist and body image coach, Dr. Lisa embodies the essence of empowerment and healing. By creating safe spaces for individuals to explore their relationship with food and their bodies, she cultivates a sense of protection and support crucial for dismantling the shackles of diet culture. Encouraging intuitive eating and joyful movement, she celebrates the freedom that comes from detaching worth from body size.

In the wake of my conversation with Dr. Lisa, I am reminded of the power of vulnerability, authenticity, and self-compassion in dismantling the toxic narratives that govern our relationships with food and our bodies. It's a call to action for each of us to embark on our unique journey of self-exploration, to challenge the status quo, and to reclaim our inherent worth beyond the confines of diet culture. As we navigate this terrain together, let us embody the resilience and courage that define true empowerment and healing.
