In this episode, I speak with Amanda McKoy Flanagan on recovering from trauma, losing a loved one, how to get sober and her book "trust yourself to be all in".

I recently self-published an award-winning, Amazon bestselling inspirational memoir, Trust Yourself to Be All In: Safe to Love and Let Go about breaking chains of generational family dysfunction by healing grief with love for self and others. My brother overdosed and died in 2018 and shortly afterward I decided I didn't love my husband. We entered marriage counseling and I began to uncover what I call, The Great Myth: A false narrative which tells me that everyone leaves or will hurt me so I must protect my heart at all costs. This story was compounded my various trauma throughout my life. After my brother died, the story became true. I thought my husband (12 years older than me and chronically ill from 9/11) was next, and I pushed him away. My "I don't love you" was really "I'm afraid you're going to die."
My book is a self-revealing, thought-provoking, account of pain and healing. It's a story of a woman who goes to the depths of despair, looks around, and does whatever work is necessary to heal, then rises with resilience. This harrowing experience gifted me confidence and drive to bring healing to others. I believe healing personal energy holds the power to heal the world.
