Since the beginning, God has always invited humanity to trust his voice and dive into life with him. When we hear his invitation to believe and follow, we’re born into God’s kingdom, baptized in water, and filled with the Holy Spirit. In our worship gathering this Saturday we celebrated a water baptism in our community and the baptism of the Holy Spirit in the Church. At Pentecost, the Holy Spirit who was always present becomes resident in God’s people. Dive in! NOTES — // SCRIPTURE FOCUS — Romans 6.1-11 // BAPTISM is a picture of our union with Christ — BELIEVED (Baptism is the birthday party that celebrates the new birth into God’s kingdom), BURIED (Immersed in water, uniting us in Jesus’ death that frees us from sin and death), and RAISED (Lifted up, united in Jesus’ resurrection to walk in new life with God and others). // Our life is joined to the life of Jesus. We are freed from the power of sin and death and we are filled with Holy Spirit each step, now and forever.
