Join us as we shed light on the Kurdish struggle, exploring the deep-rooted issues surrounding their treatment and the relevance of their experiences to this past weekend's election in Türkiye. The Turkish obsession with Kurds and fear of Kurdish rights may be justified on some levels, but it's now cost the opposition its second best chance to rid itself of President Erdogan, their failing strong man. Their best chance to get rid of him was back in 2015, and the Kurdish issue was at the root of his political survival back then as well.
In Turkey, the Kurdish population has faced a long-standing struggle for recognition, equality, and cultural rights. We provide an overview of some of the multifaceted aspects of this complex issue. Delving into the troubled history, we discuss the discriminatory policies, forced assimilation efforts, and human rights violations that have shaped the Kurdish experience. We also examine the impact of these historical injustices on the current political landscape.
