On The Business Show on Marlow FM on 16th June 2022, Jay Blake and I joined Lawrence Wood for his version of The Business Show. Nice for me to be the guest rather than the host for a change! And Lawrence's chosen theme for the show was business development – delighted that he thinks I know a little about the topic!

We then move into a conversation about the matter at hand – business development, starting with what those words actually mean.

“Like Clockwork” by The Boomtown Rats was my choice of music because if you have good business development processes which work like clockwork, you should end up with an order number from your new client. Hear it for yourself at https://youtu.be/BtDhMScCkcQ.

We then had quite a debate about the processes that should be embedded within business development, the flexibility required in those processes, how to increase the number of ‘touch points’ with a prospect, and more.

Jay and I were then challenged by Lawrence to share how we would attract the attention of, and then win business from, a prospect in the room with us and with a number of similar competitors to ourselves. Challenging indeed!

We then talked about our top tips for acquiring customers before covering off how we would advise a client who needed to choose between a range of suppliers.
