Charles Bear is running against Mike Moran in the August 20th election for the Republican nomination for Sarasota County Tax Collector. The winner will face incumbent Barbara Ford-Coates in November. Bear discusses his experience as Director of Tax Operations for Charlotte County, the problems with the Florida PACE Funding program and the conflict of interest for Moran, who is the Executive Director of Florida PACE (Property Assessed Clean Energy) Funding Agency PACE loans have been criticized by consumer advocates as misleading and put the borrowers home at risk of losing their home if they fall behind on payments.
