This watch is available with either a chocolate or black dial, and today we're looking at a black dial example. The Yacht-Master is a solid choice in the $15,000 range on the secondary market, comparable in price to the Two-Tone Blusey 16613LB and the Two-Tone Sub 116613 with a black dial. Its wearability is similar to the Submariners, making it a tough decision for buyers at this price point. However, the Yacht-Master distinguishes itself through its functionality and design purpose. Here's a bit of background and history: First introduced by Rolex in 1992 at 40mm, the Yacht-Master was created as a luxury version of the Submariner. Rolex doesn't frequently introduce new models, with the exception of prototypes from 1967-1969, references 6239/6242. The Yacht-Master, initially nicknamed the "Albino Sub," eventually grew to 42mm but maintained its heritage as a nautical tool and watch, contrasting with the Submariner, which is a diving tool and watch. The Yacht-Master is known to hold its value well, though it isn't expected to increase significantly in value. Chris particularly likes the two-tone version for its versatility and touch of gold, making it a great dressier watch for everyday wear, whether you're going out, having dinner, wearing a jacket or suit, attending formal events, hitting the gym, or even going to the beach.
