Welcome to The Daily Quote—a podcast designed to kickstart your day in a positive way. I'm your host, Andrew McGivern, for December 3rd.
Today is the National Day of Giving, a reminder that the heart of the holiday season isn’t about getting but about the giving.
It’s about the joy of giving—your time, your kindness, or your resources—to make the world just a little bit brighter.
That brings me to today’s quote, which comes from Anne Frank:
"No one has ever become poor by giving."
Now, Anne Frank’s words carry a wisdom beyond her years. Think about it—when you give, whether it’s your time, your money, or just a moment of compassion, you aren’t left with less. You’re often left with more: more connection, more purpose, more joy.
This isn’t to say you should empty your wallet or work yourself into exhaustion to give to others. Generosity is about balance. But it’s also about recognizing that kindness is one of the few investments that guarantees a return. If you’ve ever helped someone, you know exactly what I mean—it’s almost impossible to give without feeling richer for it.
So today, on the National Day of Giving, find a way to share what you can. Buy coffee for a stranger, volunteer at a shelter, or even just listen—really listen—to someone who needs to be heard. Giving doesn’t have to be grand to be great.
Thank you for spending a few minutes with me on The Daily Quote. If this episode inspired you, why not share it? Because even spreading a little positivity is a form of giving. Until tomorrow, take care, and remember: when you give, you gain.
