This is Derek Miller, Speaking on Business. American Express began as a freight forwarding company in 1850, earning a reputation as a company people could trust. One thing has remained constant through the company’s history: its commitment to providing the world’s best customer experience every day. Amex’s Senior Vice President of Commercial Underwriting, Brady Fife, shares more. Brady Fife: American Express opened its first Utah office in 1910, offering express delivery services. We have had a consistent Utah presence for over 100 years and are proud to be the official payments partner of the Utah Jazz and Delta Center - which includes a dedicated entrance for all American Express card members. Today, Amex’s Utah office is located in Sandy. There are about a dozen business units within our local market, ranging from finance and risk to technology, supporting our Consumer, Commercial, Merchant and Network, and International business segments. Utah is also the headquarters of American Express National Bank. Since our earliest days, we’ve striven to find new ways to have our customers’ and colleagues’ backs. This year we ranked #1 in credit card satisfaction for consumer and small businesses by JD Power, and were the #3 Best Company to Work For in the US by Fortune Magazine. Derek Miller: While American Express’ business has transformed over the past 173 years from freight forwarding to innovative digital products, its 77,000 global colleagues remain committed to earning customers’ loyalty for the long haul. I’m Derek Miller with the Salt Lake Chamber, Speaking on Business. Originally aired: January 4, 2024
