Interview with O&M Specialist Elga Joffee

Elga Joffee has been an advocate of the pediatric belt cane since its inception and in this interview describes the positive outcomes it had for two of her students in North Carolina.
She knows of what she speaks. Elga entered the O&M profession as a graduate student in 1971. She has taught O&M to children in the US and Israel. She is the recipient of the Newcomer-Hill Service Award – Orientation and Mobility Professional Service with 30 Peer Reviewed Publications and over 50 professional conference presentations. She was awarded the Warren E. Bledsoe Award - Outstanding Contribution to the Literature in Blindness and Visual Impairment. She also worked as Director, Information Center; National Program Associate/Orientation and Mobility for the American Foundation for the Blind. She taught O&M courses for Hunter College of The City University of New York and University of Nebraska at Lincoln.
