Humanizing the Prison Experiences of the Formerly Incarcerated Person

In this episode I am interviewed by Allison. She is an advocate with the Criminal Justice Coalition for those who have been sexually exploited. However, in this episode she tackles the issues that extend from within the prisons of Texas. Her inquiry was designed to open up to the listening audience, little known facts that shape and form the lives of persons housed in Texas prisons. I chose to share with Allison the complex challenges that have been obstacles to my successful reentry back into society. Additionally, we comment on the reality of Post Conviction Penalties. These are ways in which the Formerly Incarcerated people continue to be punished after having paid their debt to society. As you listen I challenge you to see those we lock up as people, humans with needs. And to imagine what we can support in the way of reform and poicy change that will affirm their dignity and increase likelihood of their success upon release. This is a problem we all have a stake in fixing.
