Hendrik holds a PhD from the LSE and works on the comparative politics of the Middle East with a particular interest in Islamism and political parties. He has been working at the Department of Arabic, Islamic and Middle Eastern Studies at Leeds University since 2007. Prior to that he worked at the American University in Cairo.
