This week Brian Mix joins the regular Regular Joe’s as they look over the list of treasures and curios from the upcoming three day Prop Store Entertainment Memorabilia Auction. There are some truly amazing items for sale, particularly if you’re in the income bracket to drop a half a million on a piece of Star Wars history. Fans of the original Netflix Daredevil series have been waiting six plus years to see the man without fear back in action. And while Daredevil Born Again is clearly building up to a rematch between Wilson Fisk and Matt Murdock’s alter ego, the consensus among the Regular Joe’s is, it’s taking its own time getting there. Tod remains endlessly optimistic, while the others are really hoping for a flash of crimson soon. There’s also a round of What’s in the Box and the usual Random Topics. Thanks for listening!…

It’s been nearly 6 years since Avengers Endgame. It’s well past time to get the band … or something like the band, back together. This week the Regular Joe’s each roll out their suggested roster for the next iteration of Marvel’s premiere super team. Think of it like fantasy sports for nerds. As you might expect there’s some common ground, but also some radically divergent ideas, as they forge the respective teams of old guard, new blood, and a few wild cards. As the Russo Brother’s next Avengers film is currently slated for June 2026 we may not have to wait too long to see who comes closest to the next line up. There’s also the usual round of Random Topics. Thanks for listening!…
This week the Regular Joe’s take a deep dive into Random Topics. There’s a lot of stuff to talk about, what was Kathleen Kennedy, maybe, possibly leaving Lucas film and James Bond being handed off to a company who can’t figure out what size box to ship tiny items in. They also take a Spoiler free look at The Gorge, The Anya Taylor-Joy and Miles Teller action, suspense, horror, romance that recently debuted on Apple+. And, if that’s not your kind of thing, they catch up on what they are watching in the final week before Daredevil: Born Again airs and all other TV watching pales in comparison. Or so Tod insists. Thanks for Listening!…

It’s a New World Order. Scratch that, it’s a Brave New World, as the fourth Captain America film makes its big screen debut. This time around it’s Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) who wields the shield, while still wearing the wings, as if he is not quite sure this gig is gonna last. This delayed, retitled, and much reshot MCU film marks Cap 2.0’s first big screen appearance and the follow up to the 2021 Disney Plus series Falcon and the Winter Soldier. So, is it good? The Regular Joes answer with a resounding, “sort of.” They run down the good points and the bad points as the first of three 2025 Marvel films falls short of it’s box office hopes. Did we mention Harrison Ford is now Thunderbolt Ross … and a Hulk? There’s also the usual Random Topics and a round of What’s in the Box. Thanks for listening!…

This week, the Regular Joes, all five of them, make the Trek to Ticonderoga. There are two good reasons to visit this small New York town. Fort Ticonderoga is the site of the first American victory in the Revolutionary War, and the site of the Star Trek Original Series Set Tour. Note: only one of these is accessible in winter. Hint, it’s the one with phasers and not muskets. While there the Joes interview James Cawley, creator of this unique attraction, about his own involvement in the Star Trek franchise, as well as his many other interests. We all have our own respective passions, but few of us pursue them to the degree that James Cawley has. It’s a fascinating interview with a fascinating man, who’s found a unique and amazingly cool way to share his love of Star Trek with fellow fans. Thanks for listening!…
For 35 years Star Trek V: The Final Frontier (1989) has held the dubious distinction of being the worst Star Trek film ever made, but that inauspicious run is over. With the release of the Paramount+ film Star Trek: Section 31 there’s a new benchmark for bad in the Trek universe. To spare you one hour and 35 minutes of weak, nonsensical plot, thin characters, and cheesy gimmicks, the Regular Joe’s watched Section 31 for you. Note: there will be SPOILERS, but think of it as a “mercy spoiling.” From the far future we move to recent past as the long awaited MCU version of Fantastic Four releases its first teaser/trailer serving up a mid-century-modern take on Marvel’s first family of adventurers. Cautious optimism appears in order. There’s also the usual Random Topics and a round of What’s in The Box. Thanks for Listening!…

This week, the Regular Joe’s catch up each other on what they’ve been doing the last few weeks. Inspired by the recent 55 films episodes Tod has decided to rewatch classic films in their original unadulterated format to kick this off he recently went to see King Kong (1933) on the big screen in a theater where it originally played when released. Dave, long the master of custom-made displays and plaques has started a business … wait for it, making and selling custom-made displays and plaques. Did you recently pick up a pair of old ruby slippers that you really want to show off? Dave can help. Barry is just back from his third trip to the happiest place on Earth, at least the happiest place on Earth if you’re Barry. Yes, another research trip to Lucas Film and Skywalker Ranch. He shares some, but not all, the details about the amazing stuff, and people, he saw there. As we, once again, live vicarious through him and try to keep our envy in check. Thanks for listening!…

This week the Regular Joe’s cover the wrap up of two sci-fi series. Star Wars: Skeleton Crew is the first child centric Disney+ offering from that universe. Lower Decks was the first animated Star Trek series since 1975, and was intended for adults. Specifically adults who are REALLY into Star Trek. Likely the only thing these two shows have in common is that they both exceeded expectations, and pushed the boundaries of what you can do within their respective universes. Note: there will be SPOILERS. And, because it’s continually looping in Tod‘s head, they also talk about the just released trailer for the Disney+ continuation of the late, much lamented, Netflix Daredevil series, Daredevil Born Again … did we mention it’s coming March 4th? There’s also the usual Random Topics, and a round of What’s in the Box. Thanks for listening!…

It’s the second half of our rundown of the gang of 5’s personal lists of 55 most important films released prior to 2000. The first round covered a lot of ground but four decades remain. And this time almost all in color! There’s the swinging sixties, the sleazy seventies, the epic eighties, and the nineties …. when most every good film is set in another time period. These are the films you could have, or should, have rented back when the phrase “Be kind, please rewind” was a thing. Thanks for listening!…

For the much anticipated 555th episode of the Regular Joes Podcast, Barry, Dave, Tod, Derryl and Brian (yes, FIVE of them) each offer up FIFTY FIVE significant films each of them think everyone should see. Sort of. The two caveats are, the films must be prior to 2000, and only a single film from a franchise. Think of it as a twentieth century bucket list for cinephiles. Or, as is often noted, what films Captain America needs to see after being thawed out from the ice. One last thing. Unlike films like Dune (2021) were going to tell you up front they don’t actually finish, and part II is coming next week to close out the last three decades. Thanks for listening!…

This week, Barry, Dave and Tod, reputedly the three hardest people in the known universe to buy for, exchange Christmas gifts. This may seem like an exercise in futility, but it has become tradition. On the whole this was a good year. Barry didn’t buy himself anything a week before the gift exchange, Dave didn’t already have everything, and Tod grudgingly accepted that he has gone up a tee shirt size. Thanks for listening, and have a Happy New Year!…

From the Max Fleischer cartoons, the early serials, the 1950’s series, and back to movie screens and a succession of TV shows, no other hero has left the footprint in pop culture that the Man of Steel has. An orphaned refugee who gives back to the world that took him in, Superman is intrinsically tied to the American mythos. It seems that every generation has a Superman, and this summer James Gunn will bring the newest incarnation to the big screen. The first trailer for Superman (2025) is out and the Regular Joes break down the brief glimpse into familiar characters, and many never before seen on screen. While the stakes remain high, the dark and broody tone of recent years seems to be behind us. The only question that remains is, are you ready to believe in Superman … again. And, as they close out the year, the Joes squeeze in one last batch of Random Topics, and one more round of What’s in the Box. Thanks for listening!…

This episode the Regular Joe’s roll the dice, betting that nothing fantastic will happen in the next two weeks, as they do their annual year in review show. With Brian Mix and Derryl DePriest singing back up, the Joe’s cover the greatest hits and the biggest misses from the past year. There are surprises, and some familiar favorites, as they review the movies TV, series, events, acquisitions and happenings that punctuate 2024 as it fades in the rearview mirror. Thanks for listening!…
It’s December, so there must be a new Star Wars series on Disney+. Do you like watching children getting in trouble, running, and screaming? How do you feel about pirates? Do you have fond memories of watching The Goonies (1985)? If so, Disney+ has the show for you. Surprisingly, it seems to be the show for others as well, as Skeleton Crew has landed well with critics, Star Wars fans, and yes, all three Regular Joes. There will be SPOILERS, so you should check out the first few eps before listening. If you were wondering where his last week’s show went, Dave catches you up on his most recent trip to the happiest place on earth. There’s a bit of discussion about someone dropping the cost of a high end private jet on a pair of 85-year-old footwear, a round of What’s in the Box, and the usual Random Topics. For the landmark 550th episode the Regular Joe’s are again joined by Irregular Joes Derryl DePriest and Brian Mix. After an extremely far reaching round of Random Topics, the hosts discuss the just released Star Trek short, 765874 Unification, from OTOY studios in collaboration with the Roddenberry Archive. With callbacks to the unaired pilot, the original series, the Next Generation, the Kelvin Universe, Discovery, and Picard, the brief video is deeply routed in the Star Trek universe. For fans who were underwhelmed by Kirk’s death in Star Trek: Generations, or disappointed by the brief reference to Spock’s death off screen in Star Trek Beyond, unification provides some intensely satisfying closure for one of the greatest friendships in sci-fi lore. And, because Brian somehow always knows how to be at the right place at the right time, he shares his experience watching the premiere of the short alongside William Shatner. How’s that for a phaser drop? There’s also around of What’s in the Box. Thanks for listening!…
