During this episode, award winning scholar & researcher, Dr. Kellie Carter Jackson joins host Scott Speed to discuss what fueled her desire to study 19th Century American History as a profession. She gives us insight into her research about her upcoming book “Force & Freedom: Black Abolitionists and the Politics of Violence” and much much more. Dr. Kellie Carter Jackson is currently an Assistant Professor of History at Hunter College, CUNY in New York. She received her Ph.D. in History from Columbia University and her undergraduate degree in Journalism from Howard University. Her research interests are Abolitionism, Slavery and Emancipation, Violence and Political Discourse, Historical Film, Black Women’s History, and Nineteenth and Twentieth Century African American History. Kellie has been the recipient of numerous awards for her academic research and teaching including the Harvard University Certificate of Distinction in Teaching in 2014. Kellie has presented part of her work at the University of Cambridge, Yale University, and in Johannesburg, South Africa.
