Females in PHEM with Ffyon Davis
Manage episode 421686071 series 3095917
In this conversation, we will examine the percentage and growth of females in Pre-Hospital Emergency Medicine (PHEM). We also examine the diversity within the UK context and how this has slowly but surely grown and affected the workforce for the better within pre-hospital care. We also discuss the hierarchy of competence, barriers to entry and some of the covert and overt challenges that women have faced to enter PHEM.
To do this I have Ffyon Davis with me. Ffyon is an emergency medicine registrar and expedition doctor with a special interest in PHEM. She is also a World Extreme Medicine (WEM) faculty member and avid explorer. The empirical paper mentioned within the episode on outcome data can be found here: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/37647075/
