Larry and Ann are joined by Kelly Tyson, Woodbine’s Director Marketing, Events and Experience, who talks about todays Opening Day at Woodbine and what visitors can expect to see during the afternoon. She also discusses next weeks Kentucky Derby Party at Woodbine and mentions a special announcement regarding this year’s King’s Plate. Still at Woodbine, Track Announcer Robert Geller joins the show and talks about how as a race caller, he prepares for today’s opening card of racing. Robert also talks about next week’s Kentucky Derby and what horse has impressed him the most so far and makes a couple of betting selections for todays Woodbine race card. Canadian Horse Racing Hall of Fame’s Managing Director Linda Rainey, who discusses the recent announcement that was made recognizing the 12 new members that will be inducted into the Hall on August 7th and breaks down who are the new inductees. Linda also mentions what the criteria is for someone to become inducted and talks about the Induction Ceremony in August and its itinerary and when tickets will be made available for the horse racing industry and the public. In our feature, ‘In Case You Missed It’ A Look at The Way It Was in Horse Racing News, Larry discusses the Hall of Fame nominees and mentions some familiar names to our listeners. In our new feature, ‘Road Trip,’ Larry talks about todays Star Shoot Stakes at Woodbine and some history behind the race itself and who he believes the race ‘goes through’ later today. He also provides his ‘Ponies Picks of the Day’ selections for several North American Racetracks today, later in the show.
