The reviews were mixed over the weekend for the Edmonton Oilers. On one hand, they came out of a back-to-back weekend set with three points; however, on the other hand, they were easily could have found a way to come home with four.

First came a date with the Buffalo Sabres, which ended in bizarre fashion. Edmonton got goals from Ryan McLeod and Warren Foegele in the first period, after they were reunited on the second line with Leon Draisaitl. While that line was buzzing, the rest of the Oilers struggled to find a groove and allowed the Sabres back into the game. After 60 minutes the game was tied at two and in the overtime Owen Power scored the game winner. However, moments after everyone had turned their televisions off, the two teams made their way back on the ice after the goal was called offside. Despite that, Buffalo would win in a shootout.

Moving onto Sunday, the Oilers had more hop in their step. Calvin Pickard led the way between the pipes with a 40 save shutout, despite what the NHL site may tell you. Additioanlly, Edmonton got goals from Connor McDavid, who finished with three points, Mattias Ekholm and a pair from Darnell Nurse. The gap between themselves and the Los Angeles Kings now in the Pacific Division has increased to six points with 19 games to go.

Of course, the NHL trade deadline passed on Friday. Tyler Yaremchuk and Liam Horrobin will hand out their winners and losers from the deadline on Oilersnation Everyday over on the Oilersnation YouTube channel. The guys want you to be involved by leaving your questions, comments and concerns in the Charm Diamond Centres YouTube live chat.
