En México, el Instituto Federal de Telecomunicaciones está realizando una consulta pública para regular los servicios de Operadoras Móviles Virtuales cuando estas dejen de operar. En la propuesta se busca que la OMVs garanticen la migración de usuarios a otra compañía, mientras que mantiene la línea del usuario activa por hasta 40 días. Además, se busca que se informe a los usuarios sobre el estado de su red y vigencia de las funciones de esta, para que este inicie proceso de portabilidad hacia otro servicio.
