Born as Friederich Heinrich Karl Haarmann on October 25, 1879; Fritz was the son of father Ollie and Johanna Haarmann. He was the youngest of 6 children (2 girls and 4 boys) and was doted on by his mother; who was often described as invalid. His father was nicknamed Sulky Ollie for his gloomy and unhappy disposition. Fritz was a German serial killer with several monikers; the Butcher of Hanover, the Vampire of Hanover, and the Wolf Man; to name a few. He committed the sexual assault, murder, mutilation, and dismemberment of at least 24 young men and boys between the years of 1918 and 1924, throughout the city of Hanover; when he was between the ages of 39 and 45. He was eventually captured and sentenced for his crimes via execution in 1925
