My Worst Interview Ever

In late 1988, my dad began looking for a new job. It wasn't the he didn't like his job as a high school teacher and counselor, but since he also was involved with the music at our church and as a marriage and family counselor at a private practice, he was stretched thin.

I was in 5th grade at the time, but I remember him saying that he was searching for a job that combined all the things he loved about his current jobs (music and counseling and teaching), but in one job. That's why, in the Summer of 1989, we moved to Illinois so he could become a pastor and worship leader. In most every way, it was a perfect fit.

Talking to Joe Saul-Sehy about his worst interview ever, I thought about my dad. Over the years, Joe realized that there had to be a way to do all the stuff he loved and very little of the stuff he didn't...all in one job. And, today, it's clear Joe was right.

Joe Saul-Sehy is a former financial advisor (for 16 years) and represented American Express and Ameriprise in the media. He’s now the host of the award-winning "Stacking Benjamins" podcast which has been recognized recently by Kiplinger, Entrepreneur, and US News and World Report as one of the top podcasts about finance.
