This program is a continuation of my response to the Op-Ed article “The ferocious last gasps of the religion of Christian America” that appeared in the January 19, 2021 edition of latimes.com (Los Angeles Times newspaper). In the article, Richard T. Hughes, a professor emeritus from Pepperdine University, lives down to the behavior of the false prophets about which 2 Peter chapter 2 warns us. The article mocks Christians who support Biblical morality, grossly misrepresents facts, slanders those who peacefully exercise their Constitutional rights, distorts the Biblical directives for government, and ignores the foundational role that the Bible and Christianity played in the founding of the United States and in the codification of our liberties in our Constitution. Professor Hughes’ views are anti Biblical and illustrate the phenomenon of ethical inversion. Refer to Isaiah 5:20 Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! Jesus referred to this condition when your heart becomes so corrupt that you think that evil is good: Matthew 6:23 “If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!” I will justify my critique with facts from contemporary events, verses from the Bible, and quotes from the US Constitution and Declaration of Independence.
