In this talk, Douglas emphasizes that data, when treated as a valuable asset rather than a byproduct, can drive immense value for organizations. Data's unique qualities—its ability to be used repeatedly without depletion and to generate more data—can transform businesses, especially when leveraged strategically through innovative technologies and proper asset management. Douglas advocates for organizations to move beyond just reporting and compliance, and instead focus on using data to generate actionable insights that improve outcomes and create new value streams.
Originator of the "3 Vs" of big data: Volume, Velocity, and Variety.
