Why do we do things we don’t want to do during our working day? Why do we do things that take us away from what we actually want to be doing.

For instance:

Why do we try and multi-task when we know it’s not beneficial?

Why do we check our emails every 11 minutes instead of focussing and completing what’s in front of us?

Why do we say yes to tasks that aren’t aligned with our strategic focus areas?

Why do we get distracted so easily?

Why do we do the quick fix task when we should rather delegate it to someone else?

Why do we randomly grab our phones and scroll on social media for up to 2 hours every day?

Why do we respond to emails, messages and calls when they could probably wait until later?

Why do we accept and join every meeting request that comes in when we know we don’t really have to attend every single one?

Most leaders and execs that I speak to tell me that they want to have more time for strategic work and thinking time. They want the space to plan and think more every week.
The problem? Distractions and distracting activities that keep us busy.
