In this video, I'm sharing what the Bible teaches about the "Occupy Till I Come" doctrine. This is part one of a two-part series, so be sure to check back later for the conclusion!
This doctrine is widely accepted by many Christians, but what does the Bible actually say about it? What did Jesus mean when He said, "Occupy till I come"? In this season as the Church finds itself at a crossroad between 'The Great Commission' -versus- becoming bland and somewhat irrelevant, the tendency for misapplication of Biblical truth increases, and this indeed is problematic. Let's take a deep dive into this needed subject from a Biblical perspective.
Yes, the temptation does exist to find new applications to established truths by exploring 'general principles' at the expense of a Kingdom mandate and urgency. The application of general principles must never be substituted for established truth.
Luke 19:
9 And Jesus said unto him, This day is salvation come to this house, forsomuch as he also is a son of Abraham.
10 For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.
11 And as they heard these things, he added and spake a parable, because he was nigh to Jerusalem, and because they thought that the kingdom of God should immediately appear.
12 He said therefore, A certain nobleman went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom, and to return.
13 And he called his ten servants, and delivered them ten pounds, and said unto them, Occupy till I come.
