At Routes Americas 2024, International Airport Review's Editorial Assistant, Chunekshi Wimalasuriya caught up with Director of Air Service Development at Edmonton International Airport, Adrian Warchola. Warchola updates us on the state of Edmonton International Airport, telling us the airport is dealing with the 'happy problem' of high passenger demand (particularly from record levels of migration from Eastern Europe and India). He further stresses the importance of collaboration with airlines in air service development, and providing them marketing support and catchment information. Warchola speaks about Edmonton International Airport becoming a hydrogen hub and how it came to be because of the large landmass of Alberta, its hydrogen-rich resources and its infrastructure. This enables Edmonton International Airport to bring together innovators and local companies trial experimental technologies - technologies may one day be a catalyst for the industry's race to Net Zero 2050.
