Put bluntly, there are things in life that we must get over. Something said or done many years ago is not worth carrying forward and fretting over now. We cannot dwell in the past at the expense of our future. It is said that time heals all wounds. That is sometimes true, but often, the wound does not heal because we keep picking at it. Consider, too, that our memories and recollections of events and situations can be flawed. Brain researchers look for reasons why we can remember vivid details of some things but cannot even remember other significant events from our past. One way to remember past significant events correctly is to rehearse them often. We must tell our kids and grandchildren about the times God has delivered us, or provided for us when there was no way, or protected us from harm. The children of Israel soon forgot the miracle of their escape from Egypt and the miraculous events described in Exodus. They grumbled against Moses and decried that they should go back to Egypt. In the face of their current circumstances, they forgot how bad the situation was in Egypt. This is not an Old Testament problem. In Matthew, the disciples fretted about not having enough bread for their journey not too long after twice witnessing miracles where 4 or 5 loaves of bread fed many thousands. We must not forget some things. We must remember the deliverances, when He called us from darkness, and the dream that God has given us. We must remember these and pass the telling of these to our children and grandchildren. The enemy will come against us to discredit the dream as soon as we receive it. There are more than two decades between Joseph's dream and his brothers bowing before him in Egypt. In those twenty years, he was sold into slavery, falsely imprisoned, and suffered many other challenges. The enemy's greatest nightmare is that we continue to remember and believe in the dream. Life has a way of suppressing our dreams, but once given, we must believe that God will fulfill his word. We must remember the dream.
