1 Corinthians 11:29
29 For anyone who eats and drinks without discriminating and recognizing with due appreciation that [it is Christ’s] body, eats and drinks a sentence (a verdict of judgment) upon himself.
The Corinthian church had come to the place of taking the Lord’s Supper for granted; they made it about them and not about Him. They were observing the Lord’s supper unworthily – remember, it’s not talking about the person, but the action (unworthy manner). They were taking advantage of the provision of the Lord’s sacrifice.
