After a heartfelt review of our expected growth in prayer, we thought it fitting to play Marvin and Chapman's rendition of "Tis So Sweet to Trust in Jesus," for our learning of the art of prayer must begin with stumbling faltering steps of faith.

Let David, Peter, Paul, and Jeremiah show us that one day discipline in prayer-craft will yield the fruit of a growing, Biblical, dynamic, sincere, God-glorifying prayer life, which will tutor us in the abundant life Jesus promised. (John 17:3)

We continue in the discipline of our prayer closets even in the days of tribulations, persecutions, and troubles, broken hopes and promises we think haven't come true and won't. Our broken communion is still beautiful. For the soul who knows God best knows the most sacred place is to be at the feet of Jesus.

With our brokenness in the sincerity of our communion with God, we can say with David:

"The eyes of the Lord are toward the righteous, and his ears are open to their cry, to face the Lord is against evil doers, to cut off the memory of them from the earth. The righteous cry in the Lord hears and delivers them out of all their troubles."

These words are sweetest when like Jeremiah, we have said:

"In dark places He has made me dwell, Like those who have long been dead. He has walled me in so that I cannot go out; He has made my chain heavy. Even when I cry out and call for help, He shuts out my prayer”

And since He bids me seek His face,

Believe His Word and trust His grace,

I'll cast on Him my every care,

And wait for thee, sweet hour of prayer!"
