Former President Donald Trump was in court for day 9 of his so-called hush money trial in New York on Tuesday. The judge ruled that President Trump had violated a gag order nine times, and fined him $9,000.

Anti-Israel protesters at Columbia University took over a building on campus and barricaded themselves inside as the deadline to disperse expired. The school said students refusing to leave are being suspended. Amid the chaos, Columbia closed its campus to non-residential students and the media.

The Anti-Semitism Awareness Act cleared a procedural vote in the House with broad support from both Republicans and Democrats. The bill could clear the lower chamber as soon as Wednesday.

The White House also commented on the occupation of the Columbia building, calling it “absolutely wrong.” This came as the Biden administration called on Hamas to accept Israel’s latest cease-fire proposal.
