On this latest episode of Drive To Wynn, host Justin Bell welcomes Zak Brown, former driver & current CEO of McLaren Racing. JB starts with his takeaways from the Chinese Grand Prix, the first in five years at the Shanghai International Circuit. Max Verstappen swept both the Sprint Race and Grand Prix, but there were plenty of juicy storylines unfolding in his rearview mirror. Lando Norris continued his climb up the driver standings with a strong P2 performance, Mercedes’ struggles deepened worries about Lewis Hamilton’s transition to Ferrari and Lance Stroll created chaos with a comical miscue during a restart.
Zak explains how McLaren has closed the gap on Red Bull sooner than expected, and how both of his young drivers have embraced the long-term vision of the program. He also comments on Ferrari & Mercedes’ lame duck drivers and how their frustrations will magnify when information on next year’s cars begins circulating. We also preview next weekend’s Miami GP, which has become a spectacle in itself, and how McLaren’s pending upgrades could impact their performance on a track known for its slick surface.
