CD 1682 The New Normal (UNTHANKFULNESS Equals Unhappiness)
First of all let me wish you a “Happy Thanksgiving Week 2024”! The devil is working hard to cause people to believe it is a new normal to be unhappy and have no reason to be “Thankful”! In the “WORLD HAPPINESS REPORT” the USA has fallen to #23! Why is that? Finland has been #1 for several years. They are 65% Christian and have an emphasis on others, on community instead of self!

If there was a time to practice “Thankfulness”, it is now! We are living in a time like no other in my humble opinion of murmuring and grumbling stemming from not being “Thankful”! By the Holy Spirit the apostle Paul told us that society at the end of the age will become “UNTHANKFUL.”

*Read 2 Timothy 3:1-2 (KJV) This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. 2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, …

*Text 1 Thessalonians 5:1–7 &16-18 (KJV) But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you. 2 For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. 3 For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape. 4 But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief. 5 Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness. 6 Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober. 7 For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night. 16 Rejoice evermore. 17 Pray without ceasing. 18 In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

Note “In every thing give thanks” #2168 (yoo-khar-is-teh'-o) to be grateful, that is, (actually) to express gratitude (towards); specifically to say grace at a meal.

Note the Word says “In every thing give thanks” - not for! Here εν (en) is a preposition in Greek translated “In” while more common prepositions for "FOR" in Greek are επι (epi) or δια (dia).

So in the time just before the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ the Holy Spirit through the apostle Paul is admonishing us to “In every thing give thanks”! In the letter to Timothy he stated mankind would become “unthankful” and unholy!

The word “unthankful” is a translation of the Greek word “ach-ar'-is-tos”. The word “ch-ar'-is-tos” on its own simply means “thankful”, but when an “a” is attached to the front of it, it reverses the condition and turns it into an attitude that is “unthankful”. It paints a picture of people who previously had a “thankful” heart but now are “unthankful”. They no longer focus on their blessings they have in their lives; instead, they fixate on what they don’t have. These are people who have become “unthankful” and who live their lives very unhappy.

The only other place where the word “ach-ar'-is-tos” is found in the New Testament is where the focus is off self and on those who are in real need:

*Luke 6:35 (KJV) But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil.

Q. How?

Luke 6:36 (KJV) Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful.

Notice in this verse that the Lord Jesus connects “unthankfulness” with evil! This incredible truth teaches us that “unthankfulness” is evil in God’s sight
