"PRAYER , THANKSGIVING and PREACHING”

In the 3 verses in this Epistle we are going to cover this morning the Holy Spirit is going to tie these 3 things together in our lives: “PRAYER , THANKSGIVING and PREACHING”!

TEXT: Colossians 4:2-4 [KJV] Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving; 3 Withal praying also for us, that God would open unto us a door of utterance, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am also in bonds:4 That I may make it manifest, as I ought to speak.

#1 PRAYER - “Prayer is the link that connects us with God and each other”!

*REREAD: Colossians 4:2 [KJV] Continue in prayer...

Note “CONTINUE” #4342 "Continue perseveringly" - "persevere" by being constantly diligent!

First Connect with God:

*Read Acts 10:30-33 (KJV) 30 And Cornelius said, Four days ago I was fasting until this hour; and at the ninth hour I prayed in my house, and, behold, a man stood before me in bright clothing, 31 And said, Cornelius, thy prayer is heard, and thine alms are had in remembrance in the sight of God. 32 Send therefore to Joppa, and call hither Simon, whose surname is Peter; he is lodged in the house of one Simon a tanner by the sea side: who, when he cometh, shall speak unto thee. 33 Immediately therefore I sent to thee; and thou hast well done that thou art come. Now therefore are we all here present before God, to hear all things that are commanded thee of God.

*Read Acts 10:44-48 (KJV) 44 While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word. 45 And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost. 46 For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter, 47 Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we? 48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.

Cornelius could have said I am not a Jew - meaning I have no covenant with the Lord God Almighty! What good would it do me to pray? What good would it do me to give alms - to act like God the Father and be a sacrificial giver? No he got to know God - he connected with God and learned:

*Read Matthew 21:22 (KJV) And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.

Secondly Connect with Each Other:

Read *Ephesians 6:18 (KJV) Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

*Read Act 2:46-47 (KJV) And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart, 47 Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.

*Read Hebrews 10:25 (KJV) 25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

#2 THANKSGIVING - “Thanksgiving is the link that reveals our faith and hope in God”!
