With the holidays soon approaching, many of us are looking forward to getting into the spirit even though this year, the holidays will look different for many of us.
Typically, the holiday season can bring on stressors. While we may not be able to avoid all holiday stresses, we can have tools in place to help us cope better. Some great tools for both preventing and managing stress include self-care, exercise, deep breathing, spending time outside, and therapy.
Another one of our favorites is aromatherapy and we wanted to share some of our favorite ways to incorporate it into our stress-management routine. This year, Sharp Best Health team reached out to Lisa Goodman, the Integrative Care Coordinator at Sharp Grossmont Hospital, to talk about how aromatherapy can help you de-stress for the holidays.

Additional Resources:
Aromatherapy Recipe #1 (for an ultrasonic diffuser):

  • 3 drops of lavender
  • 3 drops of sweet orange
  • 2 drops of Frankincense

Simply add the oils to the reservoir (don’t forget to add the water first) and turn on to enjoy!
Aromatherapy Recipe #2 (Soothing Bath Soak):

  • 6 drops of Lavender
  • 3 drops of Lemon
  • 1 drop of Ylang Ylang

To…

  • 1 cup of Sea Salt and
  • ½ cup of warmed honey

Mix together in a bowl and add to a warm bath after you get in.
Aromatherapy Recipe #3 (calming blend for an inhaler tube ):

  • 5 drops of Lavender
  • 3 drops of Bergamot
  • 2 drops of Clary Sage

Aromatherapy Recipe #4 (Warm and Cozy blend for an ultrasonic diffuser ):

  • 1 drop of Clove or Cinnamon
  • 2 drops of Cardamom
  • 3 drops of Tangerine
  • 4 drops of Sweet Orange

Simply add the oils to the water in the reservoir of the diffuser and turn on to enjoy the warm and sweet aroma!
