Celebrating Women’s History Month with Navy Veteran and Veteran Advocate Katherine Martinez

T’Liza welcomes Katherine Martinez to the Boots on the Ground Podcast. Katherine is a Navy veteran who served four years on active-duty service as a Sonar Technician. As the Mid-Atlantic Region Manager for the Travis Manion Foundation, she puts her “heart and soul and love into the community” by engaging the military in her area.
Katherine was named the 2021 Student Veteran of the Year for her efforts to increase diversity, equity, inclusion and cultural awareness for student veterans. She is also on the Board of Directors at Student Veterans of America and on the Board of Directors for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. Katherine discusses her journey through military service, the greatest leadership lessons she learned as a sailor, continuing her service for veterans and what's next on the horizon. She also tells us about the women who helped her in her personal and professional life in honor of Women's History Month.
