Where does government come from, what is it for, and what is the Christian attitude to it-- These are the questions answered in Chapter 24 of the 1689 Confession. We see that government is ordained by God and answerable to him, and that it is therefore something Christians can participate in. We see also that the usual Christian attitude to it is one of lawful obedience, subject to God's Word.
