This tour of Fells Point Historic Trail is created by The Baltimore National Heritage Area (BNHA), which promotes, preserves, and enhances Baltimore's historic and cultural legacy and natural resources for current and future generations. A walking tour of this and other destinations is available at https://www.explorebaltimore.org/tours. Located at 812 S. Ann Street Transcript: The building on your left with the green shutters is likely the oldest surviving home in urban Baltimore. Built in 1765 by merchant Robert Long, who served in the Revolutionary War, this Quaker style house came close to being demolished in the 1960s. Luckily, the Preservation Society was able to save it and painstakingly restored it to the colonial splendor you see today. Some of Long's original furniture is still inside. With all of the people, sailors, and merchants coming and going from Fells Point over the centuries, you may wonder about, well, about ghosts. One night, a woman working late inside the Robert Long house heard knocking at the door. When she went to the downstairs door and opened it, she found herself staring at five sailors who looked like they had drowned. The sailors motioned for the woman to join them. She ran back upstairs. No one has seen the sailors since.
