Acts 4:27-31 (NIV) – [27] “Indeed Herod and Pontius Pilate met together with the Gentiles and the people of Israel in this city to conspire against your holy servant Jesus, whom you anointed. [28] They did what your power and will had decided beforehand should happen. [29] Now, Lord, consider their threats and enable your servants to speak your word with great BOLDNESS. [30] STRETCH OUT YOUR HAND TO HEAL and perform miraculous signs and wonders through the name of your holy servant Jesus.” [31] After they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God BOLDLY. Stretch Out Your Hand to Heal “The people of Old Testament times tended to think of sickness as punishment for sin. This concept is explored fully in the Book of Job. But Jesus was firmly convinced that His Father’s purpose for humankind was health, wholeness, and salvation. He did not teach that disease was a punishment sent by God. And while He was always concerned to heal the sick in body, He also paid close attention to the mind and the spirit of those who suffered.” (Nelson’s Illustrated Bible Dictionary) 1. “Aruwkah” means health, healing of a wound, or restoration; the new flesh that grows at the wounded spot. Jeremiah 30:17 (NIV) – [17] “But I will restore you to HEALTH and heal your wounds,” declares the Lord,” because you are called an outcast, Zion for whom no one cares.” 2. “Chabash” means saddle, bind up, girded, govern, restrain, healer, bandage; to wrap firmly, especially a turban, compress, or saddle. Numbers 22:21 (NIV) – [21] Balaam got up in the morning, SADDLED his donkey and went with the princes of Moab. Psalms 147:1-4 (NIV) – [1] Praise the Lord. How good it is to sing praises to our God, how pleasant and fitting to praise him! [2] The Lord builds up Jerusalem; he gathers the exiles of Israel. [3] He heals the brokenhearted and BINDS UP their wounds. [4] He determines the number of the stars and calls them each by name. 3. “Yeshuw’ah” means salvation, help, deliverance, victory, health, save, saving, welfare, aid 2 Chronicles 20:17 (NIV) – [17] “You will not have to fight this battle.
