All About Making a Career Change
Manage episode 327478859 series 2829885
In this episode award-winning business journalist Georgie Frost talks to former Paralympian Amy Marren about her career in swimming and her decision to retire and pursue a career in law. They explore why apprenticeships are the perfect way to make a career change.
Amy is a British double Paralympian, World and European Champion, and Paralympic Bronze Medallist, who retired from swimming aged 21 to focus on her legal career. Having completed a paralegal apprenticeship in 2017, Amy is currently undertaking a six-year lever 7 solicitor apprenticeship with the in-house legal team at BPP, the education provider. Amy is currently in her fourth year of training and is hoping to qualify in 2024.
Georgie and Amy also discuss the Dept for Education's new Get the Jump’ Skills for Life campaign, aimed at helping 14-19 year olds understand the choices available to them as they take their next step in education and training, and inspiring them by highlighting some of the future jobs these could lead to. Visit gov.uk/get-the-jump for more information on the different routes you can take and don't forget to check out @national_careers_service too.
