Captain Shane Farmer has been with the Big Sky Fire Department since October of 2018. He started in the fire service as a volunteer with Cedar Falls Fire Rescue in 2001 and was hired as a professional in 2006. He is a lead instructor at the Gallatin Valley Fire Academy and has helped in building a multi-agency academy from the ground up. Training is his passion. He demonstrates his love for the fire service by competing in the Firefighter Challenge for the last 20 years and being an advocate for the health, safety, and wellness of all members of the fire service.
